Introduction to LibGuides: Pros and Cons

A brief introduction to the LibGuides system.

LibGuides offers some dramatic advantages over "building from scratch":

  • Designed for Libraries, but highly flexible
  • Easy to use interface
  • Remotely managed, maintained, and supported
  • Write Once, Use A Lot - makes maintaining and updating your guides very easy
  • Great for Bibliographic Instruction
  • Great for collecting course material and how-to's
  • Great way to deliver service where the patron wants it

Of course, there are some drawbacks, too:

  • Limited Look and Feel
  • Subscription Service
