EndNote X6 Overview

Obtaining a Turnitin Account

Turnitin is a Web-based plagiarism detection service which reviews submitted material for originality of content. Instructors can submit electronic versions of text to Turnitin to generate an “originality report.” This report marks text so that unoriginal content appears underlined, color-coded, and linked to its original source.

To obtain a turnitin account, visit the IT Support Center Plagiarism Detection and Prevention webpage.

Introduction to Turnitin

Using Turnitin with the Desire2Learn Dropbox

Using Turnitin's Originality Check enables you to monitor your dropbox folders and review submitted material for originality of content.  The integration compares submissions to online databases, web pages, and papers previously submitted to the Turnitin database.  The originality report displays highlighted key areas, shows  a breakdown of matching sources, and provides direct links to the matching content. The file types that are compatible with Originality Check include: MS Word, WordPerfect, PostScript, Acrobat PDF, HTML, RTF, and plain text.

For more information on creating a dropbox folder for originality checking and reviewing originality reports, visit the IT Support Center Using Turnitin webpage.
