Citation Tools

Here are some tools that you can use to create citations for your research assignments. We do suggest double checking the work however as some mistakes can be made.

Citation Builders

Need a citation in a hurry? Check out these builders:

Citation Builder (NCSU Libraries)

Creates citations for the following styles

  • American Psychological Association 6th edition
  • Modern Language Association 7th edition
  • Modern Language Association 8th edition
  • Chicago Manual of Style 16th edition
  • Council of Science Editors

KnightCite (Calvin College)

Creates citations for MLA, APA, and Chicago styles. Now uses APA 7 and MLA 9.

Citeus Legalus

Creates citations for law and legal sources.

Citation Managers

If you are putting together a large research project, it's smart to collect all of your sources in one area. These links connect you to citation managers which allow you to save, organize, and format citations for later use when completing your project.

Zotero

--A free program that allows users to easily source information from a website.

EndNote

--A program available through IUP that allows users to manage their citations easily.

Noodletools

--A subscription program ($15 per year) designed for students.
