About IUP Libraries

The IUP Libraries provide support for teaching, research, and the personal enrichment of members of the university community.

IUP Libraries consists of the Stapleton/Stabley building, the Orendorff Music Library, the Punxsutawney Regional Library, and the Northpointe Regional Library. The Stapleton/Stabley building, which serves as the central university library, houses the main book and periodical collections, technical and public services, special collections and archives, as well as media resources and services. All libraries and all services are an integral part of IUP Libraries, a system whose resources are linked by means of an automated union catalog. IUP Libraries currently holds more than 800,000 volumes and more than 50,000 audiovisual items in various formats. Additionally, the system subscribes to more than 16,000 journals and other serial publications. Our Interlibrary Loan Department is ready to provide you with access to materials that may not be available in our collections, and the librarians at the reference desk are ready to help you with all your information queries and needs.

Our best and most valuable resource is our staff and faculty, who stand eager and ready to assist you with your academic and research needs. Please do not hesitate to call on any of our faculty librarians or our professional staff when necessary. The IUP Libraries are committed to serving and assisting everyone within the university community in the timely completion of their academic work, research, and projects.
