This guide will direct students to resources to reduce stress and promote welll-being during stressful times.

  • Wellness Wednesday:  Each Wednesday Peer Educator, Charles Coleman, will offer you some wellness tips on IG @iupaware. 

  • Therapy Dog Visits by appointment  3:00 to 8:00 PM

  • Therapy Dog Special Appearance in IUP Libraries  2:00 to 4:00 PM

Thursday November 19

  • Therapy Dog visits by appointment 9:00 -3:00 PM  

  • Finding My New Normal as a College Student.  6:00 -7:00 pm Alexis Williams, IUP Alumni and author of My Truth, My Trauma, is a  self-care, trauma informed African American Woman therapist practicing out of Philadelphia. In this event, she will discuss her life and writings  and cover various topics around the importance of self-care,  especially during this global pandemic. Included will be a discussion of the stressors of balancing personal life  with school and home; elaborating on the importance of boundaries and communication, along with maintaining personal safety,  bringing awareness to the sensitivity of the climate we are in now, and how important it is to respect one another during this time. She will also discuss trauma and families, with time at the end for answering questions. Sponsored by IUP Social Equity and Title IX Office. Zoom link for event: Join from PC, Mac, iOS or Android:

All Week Long

  • Visit the CHWB YouTube Channel to find lots of videos on health, wellness, and self-care.

  • Schedule Visits at the Counseling Center . The Counseling Center provides services Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Counseling Services are included in student Wellness Fees. Wondering how to get started? The Counseling Center is available by phone (724-357-2621) or email ( Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. In your email, write, “Hi, I’m interested in scheduling an appointment.” You will receive a response from the department secretary with scheduling options. 

  • Center for Health and Well-Being Peer Educators will visit IUP Stapleton Library periodically throughout the week to distribute de-stress and self-care tips.
