For my project, I have explored the accomplishments of IUP sports during the 1970’s. During this decade, several championship teams from different Men’s intercollegiate team sports have emerged, including baseball, golf, cross country, and basketball, and swimming as well many all-American athletes. This Decade saw a big step forward for women involvement in sports, allowing men and women to compete alongside each other on the Rifle team. Furthermore, the number of women sports had increased from the beginning of the decade, from only four in 1970 to nine by 1979.
